Our mission

The ILCA mission is to promote the use and good practice of life-cycle based sustainability assessment worldwide through the furthering of theoretical and practical educational activities to the highest scientific and ethical standards.

Increasing concern over the sustainability of human activities underlines the need for robust quantitative sustainability assessment skills. The purpose of the International Life Cycle Academy is to address this gap by promoting:

  • high-quality training in sustainability assessment;
  • the highest scientific and ethical standards; and
  • international networking.

The International Life Cycle Academy is an association of sustainability assessment professionals from all over the globe, working together to provide high-quality training opportunities in quantitative sustainability assessment. You can see some of our members’ locations on this map.

The ILCA has its headquarters in Barcelona, Spain. The Academy is grateful to the UNESCO Chair in Life Cycle and Climate Change for collaborating with us from their location at the Escola Superior de Comerç International (Universitat Pompeu Fabra).
